Basic Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Coordinator of Child Development and Family Literacy, coordinate, participate in, and facilitate the Child Care Planning Council; coordinate and participate in development of the Council’s goals; work with representatives of government, schools, non-profit agencies, child care providers, parents, Council members, and others interested in the expansion of quality child care services in Mendocino County; serve as an educational resource regarding child care issues; participate in local, statewide and other committees or groups advocating for better child care; and carry out mandates of state legislation related to child care planning.
Representative Duties & Responsibilities:
• Ensure Child Care Planning Council (CCPC) compliance with State regulations and requirements;
• Develop and monitor the CCPC budget, with the appropriate Mendocino County Office of Education (MCOE) business office personnel and the Coordinator of Child Development and Family Literacy;
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and facilitate monthly CCPC meetings;
• Plan, organize, coordinate, and conduct workshops, trainings, and presentations for CCPC and/or members of the public;
• Act as a liaison to community groups and form partnerships/linkages with other agencies;
•Write grant applications for funding if applicable;
• Coordinate marketing efforts to promote and publicize the CCPC and its activities;
• Act as a resource person for CCPC Chair and membership;
• Interpret program changes from the State and distribute information to CCPC members;
• Keep informed on current issues related to child care/after school care to serve as a supportive and knowledgeable resource to CCPC members and others;
• Respond to questions and inquires related to child care; • File reports as required by the State Child Development Division in a timely manner;
• Attend conferences and seminars to remain current in child care/after school care;
• Establish and maintain clear communication and cooperative working relationships with Council members, staff, other agencies, school districts, and regional and state administrators through announcements, letters, telephone communications and attendance at meetings;
• Perform related duties as assigned.
